The flavor is very similar to our classic CLASSIC Sichuan Chili Crisp, but with the ultimate heat boost—and, of course, no artificial additives.

The star of the heat show: the legendary Bird’s Eye chili. Time for a bit of chili nerdiness: This tiny, nasty little pod packs about 50,000 to 150,000 Scoville units (SHU)—that’s a heat level of 9 to 10. Translation: 20 to 40 times hotter than jalapeños or Tabasco. Thanks to the Birds Eye chili, our Extra Hot has about 2,800 Scoville units. Ouch? Yes. But: In addition to this uncompromising, stinging heat, the little pods also impress with a pleasantly fruity and slightly sweet aroma that fits perfectly into Asian cuisine.

And because heat without flavor would just be a test of courage, we give it a rich umami foundation: Onion, garlic, fermented soybeans, shiitake, and sesame provide that “Why-is-this-so-good?!” depth. Add to that a symphony of spices featuring tingling Szechuan pepper, cinnamon, and star anise—complex, spicy, and absolutely addictive. High-quality sunflower oil brings it all together and keeps the crunch going as long as possible. In short: spicy, savory, crunchy. And hmmm… PRETTY NAMNAM.
